Fees
Ann’s hourly rate is $250.00 per hour spent in the mediation beginning at the time the mediation is scheduled to commence, with an additional $200.00 per case administrative fee.  The $200 administrative fee is required to be paid, even if the case is settled or dismissed before the mediation is scheduled.  Ann’s time for preparation is included in the fee, as long as the time is less than two hours. For preparation time in excess of two hours, Ann charges $250 an hour.   Ann charges mileage at the rate of $.46 per mile.  There is no charge for travel time.   The fees are split between the parties as set forth in the North Carolina Superior Court Mediation Rules.

In exceptional cases, telephone mediation may be appropriate.  Ann has available the use of MeetingBridge Virtual Conferencing, which allows Ann to meet with the parties in a common room, while also providing the ability to discuss the issues privately with the parties.   To utilize this service, Ann and the parties must agree that telephone mediation is appropriate.  MeetingBridge requires 48 hours notice.  There is an additional fee of $300 which is the cost of the MeetingBridge Service.  MeetingBridge also charges per minute, but that fee will be incorporated into Ann’s hourly rate.

Cancellation Fees
If you need to cancel or postpone a scheduled mediation, the fee is as follows:  15 calendar days or longer before the mediation, no fee;  7 to 15 calendar days before the mediation, $400.00; and the day of the mediation up to 6 calendar days before the mediation, $550.00.  This fee will be due even if the mediation is rescheduled for a later date.

Mediation Statements
If there is a mediation statement or pleading that you would like for Ann to review, try to get it to her the week before the mediation.  Ann’s mediation schedule is such that she sometimes does not return to the office before her next mediation.  She generally likes to review the pleadings or any statements filed with any pertinent administrative agency before the mediation.
